Once you’ve applied the scheduling rules, you’re ready to harness the experience and insight of your planning team to refine and make adjustments to the plan directly on the planning board.

Drag and drop operations

Drag and drop operations around the planning board, either forwards or backwards along the timeline, or to different resources. All preceding and subsequent operations will automatically update to retain the sequence. This is a safe method of evaluating and predicting outcomes of alternative plans as the master schedule is not affected until the schedule is saved.

If any gaps are created after moving jobs around, you can use the Fill Holes feature to automatically maximise capacity utilisation by filling them with smaller operations.

You can react to unexpected events such as machine breakdowns or staff absence by changing the number of available hours (capacity) on each resource directly on the planning board to immediately see the impact across your entire workload. You can also increase the number of available hours to understand the effectiveness of activities such as overtime.

Resource efficiency factor

Adjust resource efficiency factor

You can adjust the efficiency factor of individual resources to generate more realistic operation completion times. As an example, if you’ve assumed 80% efficiency across all your resources but utilisation data (available via Seiki AIR Monitoring) has shown that it’s actually between 40-60% and varies between resources, then at best you’re being overly optimistic about your available capacity and at worst you’re generating plans that are unrealistic and impacts the planned delivery dates of all Works Orders.  

Split operations

Split operations

You can split operations if there isn’t enough capacity to finish the full quantity in time and a partial shipment can be made to the customer. Split operations retain the original operation number with an added suffix and can be rejoined subsequently if required.
